Arkansas President, Nancy Keisman, reports that their state will host the SCR Convention, Mar. 30-31, in North Little Rock. A "Pink Fashion Show" will be held during this meeting. AFGC will also host NGC Fall Board Meeting 9/26-29, in Little Rock at the Peabody Hotel. The Greater Little Rock Council of Garden Clubs will have their 12th Annual Spring Garden Tour, June 2 - 3, 2012. For more info, go to www.glrcgc.net. Nancy recently attended 2 Blue Star Memorial dedications, one in Searcy and the other in Dardanelle, AR.
Donna Marsheck reports that plans are being made for their spring state convention and also district conventions. A Wildflower Workshop combined with an Environmental Studies School will keep the Oklahoma clubs busy. National Garden Week will take this state into summer.
New Mexico President, Shirley Tetreault, reports that "Serving Those Who Have Served Us" is her theme. NM Gdn. Clubs, Inc. and NM Judges Council sponsored the series of 4 Flower Show Schools which were completed in Aug., 2011. District IV had a Blue Star Memorial dedication on 11/11/11 followed by lunch. Membership is growing and children's garden clubs are thriving. Good news for all!
Texas President, Kathy Cox, states that their Fall Convention, held in San Antnio was well attended. Texas now has electronic voting and this is allowing input from all members in a timely manner. A cookbook is in the making for this state organization and members are excited about upcoming sales. Texas Gdn. Club Headquarters, in the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, is now on the Natonal Register of Historic Places. Texas will continue MOVING FORWARD---GREEN & CLEAN.
